Description
Hi everyone, I'm Jamie and welcome to my PRACTICAL Training Design course based on my book "Shaping Paths - How to Design and Deliver PRACTICAL Training"
Who is this for?
If you need to design training then this course if for you.
Beginners will find a comprehensive set of tools and templates and instructions to follow through every step of the training design process. This will help you develop advanced training design skills as fast as possible.
Experienced training designers will find new ideas, and tools to help you improve in whatever area of training design you want.
This course will show you a PRACTICAL approach to designing PRACTICAL training. You'll gain 21 tools and templates to help you through every step of the training design process. Furthermore, I designed this course using this exact approach, so you'll get to experience this PRACTICAL approach to training design in action.
Advance Your Career
If you want a successful career in the training industry, then this PRACTICAL training design methodology will give you a huge advantage!
Interestingly, a lot of trainers don't design their own training. Instead they deliver training that was designed by other people. But this means they're not able to call this training their own. Furthermore, they're not able to deliver it with as much depth, refinement and flexibility as the person who designed it.
The most successful people I know in this industry, the one's who run their own training businesses or have their own branded products, ALL design their own training.
Designing your own training gives you two main advantages.
Firstly, you get to understand this training inside out. You can flex to your learners' needs when you are running the training with them. You can answer the most challenging questions. And you can come across as a lot more confident and credible, which builds a lot of trust and even leads to you getting more training opportunities in the future!
Secondly, and more excitingly, you can develop your own intellectual property and branded training. This enables you to design truly unique training solutions that NO ONE ELSE has. This gives you something to build a business on, and generate your own passive income.
My PRACTICAL approach to training design is perfectly suited for developing your intellectual property and branded training, because it's based on tools. When you follow the approach in this course, you can design tools around your learners' needs, which you can then brand and design your training around. Some of the most famous examples of training out there are based on tools or sets of tools, such as the Getting Things Done (GTD) Framework by David Allen, or The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Franklin Covey, or the GROW model in coaching.
What do I mean by PRACTICAL?
USEFUL and SIMPLE. In this fast paced, ever changing and complicated world, people don't have time for training that's irrelevant to their needs. They expect immediate results. They want things they can take away and USE. They also don't have time to invest in learning things they don't need to, so they need SIMPLICITY.
To make training practical we should design it around TOOLS like frameworks, checklists, templates and so on. Tools enable us to condense all relevant knowledge points into an actionable document that learners can take away and use to apply the learning back to their work. This helps us solve two problems:
1. They won't forget what they learn, because instead of depending on the unreliable human memory, everything they need to remember is in a Tool that they can reference any time.
2. They can easily apply what they learn back to work (where it matters!) immediately after the training.
My PRACTICAL approach means zero nonsense. Every module is based around a tool, or set of tools. These tools are designed to help you start applying what you learn immediately. The lectures provide cover only what is relevant to the tool. This means everything in this course is focused on action. It is both a highly efficient and effective way of learning.
Design Using My 5 Elements Framework
My 5 Elements Framework breaks training down into 5 key elements, allowing you to easily identify what you need to focus on for each part of your training.
The 5 Elements are:
1. Priming - Where we get people into the right mindset to learn from the training
2. Guiding - Where we help people prepare to practice
3. Practicing - Where we help people experiment and master new skills
4. Reflecting - Where we help people adjust their mindset
5. Committing - Where we help people create the right conditions to continue learning by themselves
In this course, I'll show you how to design for each of these 5 elements. This helps you ensure your training design covers everything it needs to, and identify anything that's missing from your training and quickly bridge those gaps, and ultimately helps you ensure that every part of your training fits together and is designed with purpose.
Who this course is for:
