Description
When does a business idea become a great business opportunity?
We've all been there - you day dream about a business idea and you're sure it's a winner. But something stops you from pursuing it, or you pursue it and it doesn't quite work out the way you thought it would. That's because many 'great ideas' don't make great business opportunities.
I've seen many businesses fail - mainly because they were built upon assumptions and guesswork that weren't based in reality. In this short course, I want to show you how to use the Business Model Canvas as a tool to lower your risk of failure by planning your business model clearly and understanding how it 'hangs together'.
Planning on paper and using the BMC framework means that you can see your potential business 'come to life' before you've spent a single penny. It's a great planning tool and if you're slightly risk averse about running a business, this can be a great first step into understanding whether your potential business ideas have any merit.
Once you've planned it on paper, we can then start to think about validating your assumptions - checking to understand what we believe about your business is correct. These are steps towards a model of being an entrepreneur which manages risk all the way through - you can remove a lot of the guesswork from your planning by speaking to your customers and understanding what works and what doesn't.
For current business owners who are looking for a competitive edge, this can be a great way of revitalising your existing business, and offering new types of value to current and new customer segments.
Building anything worthwhile can be demanding, but if you're ready to take control of your own future, and build something really worthwhile, then start taking control with this course.
